When the school bell rings that means fewer families will be leaving for a beach vacation. This translates into zero to little wait times at popular restaurants and attractions. Traveling during the fall will give you a break from the crowds that otherwise populate the beach. This also means no traffic! Enjoy stress-free drives all around Gulf Shores! No waiting on that bridge for me!
Now that the temperature isn’t scorching hot, take time to explore one of the Gulf’s many wonderful parks. Rent a kayak, go biking or just take a leisurely hike through Gulf State Park. Check out our Gulf Shore Bucket List!
Planning a beach vacation during the off-season can be very economical as you get to enjoy off-peak rates on beachside accommodations and attractions. Many accommodations, attractions, and restaurants lower their prices during the off-season. For families, the savings can be significant. Allowing them to experience more during their vacation. If you have always dreamed of renting a beach house, now might be the perfect time to do so!
Not far down the road from Gulf Shores, you can find the National Naval Aviation Museum. During select times of the year, the museum offers public viewing of the Blue Angel’s practice.
The Blue Angels are the United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron which puts on a spectacular performance. Impressive air stunts and formations will leave you in awe as the signature blue planes whiz by.
A little birdie told me that another great spot to watch the Blue Angels practice is from the seawalls of Fort Pickens. Add that to the bucketlist. Fall is a great time to come to watch them practice as the season ends in November and picks back up in April.
From an Oyster Trail to a Key Lime Pie Trail come equipped with your best stretchy pants, silver fork, and appetite as you eat your way through Gulf Shores.
