A visit to Youngs Jersey Dairy in Yellow Springs, Ohio, has been a longtime fall tradition in our household. From picking your pumpkin off the vine to indulging in a scoop of pumpkin ice cream, Young’s Jersey Dairy has it all. Here are seven reasons to make time for a visit to Young’s Jersey Dairy this fall!
While many pumpkin patches have already done the work of cutting the pumpkins off the vine, Young’s allows guests to pick their own. Grab a set of pruning shears along with a wagon as you venture into the patch on a pursuit to find the perfect pumpkin. I recommend wearing closed-toe shoes and sunscreen for this endeavor.
An impressive display of grab-n-go pumpkins is available for purchase. They also make the perfect backdrop for memorable fall photos.
Grab a putter and put your skills to the test by conquering two farm-themed miniature golf courses. Each course is 18-holes with the original “Greener Pastures” course being more challenging. The second-course, “Barnyard Blitz,” was created in 2000 to keep up with the demand. The miniature golf courses are open daily all year long.
Young’s also offers a driving range with 40 natural grass tees and 20 artificial grass tees. Ten of which are heated & covered for the rainy, snowy days. The driving range also has lights at night for those looking to hit the tees in the evening.
Venture into Dairy Store to try some of the Farmstead Cheese. The cheese is produced directly from Young’s Dairy. These cheese curds are not to be missed. They offer Fresh Cheddar Curds that are hand-breaded, deep-fried, and served as a side choice or an appetizer! They offer regular, buffalo style and sweet chili style.
All the cheese at Young’s is made onsite. From the melty cheeses found in their signature grilled cheese sandwich to the snacking cheeses that are ready to be taken home! They even have containers of freshly made cheese curds available for purchase.
Young’s Jersey Dairy is a working farm with plenty of farmyard friends. The goats are always greeting visitors in hopes that they may have a special treat for them. Hand feed the goats with the cups of goat food are available for sale. Hand washing stations are located near the barn after petting and feeding the goats.
Every day around 4:30-5:30 pm, guests have the opportunity to watch the cows being milked in the barn.
Even the smallest visitors have plenty to do at Young’s by exploring Cowvin’s Kiddie Corral. This area is designated for guests 48″ inches in height or less. Let the little farmers go wild as they crawl through tunnels, ride on mini tractors, and even hoop some cows. Other favorites are the slides and a giant Connect 4 game!
Starting in August, families can test out their navigational skills by trying to find their way out of the 3 1/2 acre corn maze with over a mile of paths. There are plenty of twists, turns, and dead ends, so give yourself plenty of time to get out!
The sweetest part of any visit to Youngs Jersey Dairy is visiting the Dairy Store for a scoop of their creamy ice cream. With a wide assortment of flavors, it can be challenging to choose one. That is why we recommend bringing a small cooler and ice pack so that you can bring pints back home with you! We like to consider that a pro tip!
Another pro tip is to grab a container of their pumpkin donuts, place them in the dash of your car so that they heat up in the sun. The taste as if they just came out of the oven, and a bonus is that the car smells incredible.
Did I mention they now have a drive-thru?! That is correct; you can grab a scoop of your favorite flavor without leaving the comfort of your car!
If you are looking to bring the whole family or large group to Young’s, consider purchasing a Family Fun Pass. Not only do guests get the opportunity to experience all the fun activities and food that Young’s have an offer but also save money!
