Spread the love

On the first Saturday of the month, the Cincinnati Art Museum hosts an interactive and educational family play day that focuses on a particular theme.  This program has been designed with the whole family in mind! Performances, artist demonstrations, storytelling, scavenger hunts, tours, and hands-on art making activities are a few of the activities going on. The themes change month to month, so be sure to check the calendar each month to see what surprises are in store.

There is no cost to enter the museum or for the family first program.  Parking is available at no cost in front and back lot of the museum. Educational Opportunities

Each Family First Saturday revolves around a theme. Whether it is focusing on a particular culture, art style or educational program. Past Family First Saturdays that have featured an Archeology Fair, Inside India and Make Way For Ducklings.  Throughout the museum, children have the opportunity to experience hands-on artifacts, make their own art and learn facts revolving around the chosen topic.  During our visit to the Archeology Fair, it introduced aspiring archeologist to the wonder of the ancient world. Allowing visitors to touch actual relics, dress up, and make an ancient craft.  Guests even had the opportunity to listen to an actual archeologist speak out a recent dig they went on.  It was a wealth of knowledge for young and old.

Rosenthal Educational Center

This interactive space is designed for children of all ages to have hands-on experience with art and cultures. Children get to channel their inner artist by creating a fun masterpiece to take home or add to the group art projects taking place throughout the room. There is a reading nook with a nice selection of books, building blocks, puzzles and more. It is a must stop during any visit to the Cincinnati Art Museum. During Family First Saturday a special craft is available for children to make and take home.

We are an inquisitive family seeking to discover, create and inspire unique adventures and experiences. Our mission is to motivate families to collect moments and not things. Our family travel blog explores places off the beaten path that will spark your curiosity and provide inspiration for families traveling with children. We are not full-time travelers, just the everyday family that makes the most of each day off. When we are not traveling we enjoy being a tourist in our hometown of Cincinnati.
