Discover Wilmington’s Rich History

Wilmington’s charm isn’t just in its scenery—it’s rooted in a rich and meaningful past. Founded in 1810 and heavily shaped by Religious Society of Friends (commonly known as Quakers) settlers, the town developed a strong sense of community, education, and social responsibility that still carries through today.

Don’t miss the beautiful murals

Wilmington College, established in 1870, remains a cornerstone of the town and reflects those early values.
