Cincinnati Bloggers Share Their Favorite Weekend Getaways
Fairfield County, Ohio

Have you been to Fairfield County in Ohio? If not, you are missing a wonderful treat! Over the summer, my blog partner and I had the pleasure of visiting and loved the variety of options available. It was such a great getaway location and perfect for all ages! There were local shops, wineries, breweries, great food, children’s museums, and so much more!
One of my favorite areas of Fairfield County is Buckeye Lake Winery. You guys…it’s amazing!! Their winery is located right on the lake which means beautiful scenery all around you! If the weather is nice, I strongly encourage you to take your glass on the patio while watching the boats or just living in the moment. Unlike many wineries, they also have a full menu of delicious food. The fried green beans, cheese plate, and fig and gorgonzola flatbread are all incredible. And of course… the wine! We had a tasting with a variety of reds and whites that were delicious! We happily went home with a few bottles. The wine was so balanced that we had to have more for home.
A few additional events and places to check out here are:
- The Corn Festival- Corn on the cob fresh off the grill… need we say more?
- Weldon’s Ice Cream- Prepare yourself to make tough decisions in this shop.
- Cute boutiques in downtown Lancaster- Because who’s not up for shopping?!
Fairfield County is an unexpected travel location that is cute and quaint but filled with so many great options. We encourage you to visit if you are looking for something different where you can spend quality time with your closest friends, family, or partner!

Hocking Hills, Ohio

Last summer I went on a weekend trip to Hocking Hills with 6 other friends. We wanted to find somewhere new to visit and get outdoors, so the 2.5-hour drive was perfect for a weekend getaway. We spent the first day in Hocking Hills State Park where there are numerous trails that lead you to scenic locations such as Cedar Falls, Devil’s Bathtub and Old Man’s Cave. The next day we spent visiting Lake Logan State Park to play sand volleyball and swim in the lake.

Dale Hollow, Kentucky

Visiting Dale Hollow, Kentucky in the fall is a great way to experience a small town that is full of adventures. The Dale Hollow Lake Resort and Park is an option for guests looking to stay in the area. Start your weekend getaway to Dale Hollow by going on a few leisurely strolls to take in the scenery.
My fiancee` and I visit a family friend who works in renovating and remodeling properties around the area. He stays on farmland that has an outlying area filled with livestock. He acts as our personal tour guide to the area, taking in us to the lesser seen parts of Dale Hollow which are just as scenic with the surrounding lake and islands.
Those leisure strolls I mentioned earlier are a great way to warm-up for one of the lengthier hikes found around Dale Hollow. We had the opportunity to traverse a few of the trails which lead to stunning scenery and views. Another activity that we took part in is boating. Taking the boat out on a lake is a great way to experience this beautiful part of Kentucky.
