All cabin guests must check in at the lodge to get their keycards and car passes. The cabins are only minutes away from the lodge in a designated area. Follow signs that will direct you to your cabin number.

The Campground at Salt Fork Lake

Ohio DNR operates the Salt Fork State Park Campground. The campground guests can purchase day passes to the lodge amenities, such as the indoor/outdoor pools.

There Are Three Different Types Of Cabins

Salt Fork offers three different cabins; Hillside Cabins, Lakeview Cabins, and Chalet Cabins. Each type of cabin provides a slightly different experience.

Note: Salt Fork Lodge does offer pet-friendly cabins.

Chalet Cabins

Chalet cabins are two-bedroom cabins with hot tubs on their enclosed porch, a fireplace, and a full kitchen. Lakeside and wooded views are available. Each cabin has two parking spots, a picnic table, and a fire pit.

Lakeside Cabins

Lakeside cabins give you access to the perfect view of Salt Fork Lake. These are two-bedroom cabins with a living space and a fully furnished kitchen. Wake up every morning to the sun glistening off the waters, and then catch a gorgeous sunset from your enclosed porch.

Hillside Cabins

Hillside cabins give guests the best of both worlds. Enjoy scenic lakeside views while being tucked away in the forests of Salt Fork. During our visit, we had the opportunity to stay in a hillside cabin #26, which was newly renovated.

The cabin was a two-bedroom, with one bedroom having a full-size bed, the other having two sets of bunk beds, and the couch pulled out into another bed.

Our cabin had a full kitchen with basic cooking and eating utensils, Wi-Fi, Cable TV, bed linens, an enclosed porch with a picnic table, a fire ring, charcoal grill, air-conditioning, and heat.

The bathroom had a 2/3 bath with a shower stall, bath soaps, shampoo, and towels.

Tip: The hillside cabins are on a hill which requires you to haul your luggage up roughly two flights of stairs to the cabin—pack light.

Salt Fork Lake is a great place to go tubing, with various spots to crank up the speed. Then pull out of the ski zone to enjoy a quick swim in the lake, go fishing or cruise the lake, enjoying the scenic landscape. It felt as though I was in Tennesee with the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and thick forest.

TIP: If you were born before April of 1982, you would be required to pass a boating test if you do not have a boating license. Upon passing the boating test, you will be awarded a temporary boating license that is only valid during the term of your rental.

Sugartree Marina Restaurant

The Marina offers a full restaurant with various sandwiches, pizza, and snacks. While you can always pack a lunch to bring on the pontoon with you, we opted to carry-out pizza from the Marina to enjoy onboard. Grab cold drinks to put in your cooler, then head off on your adventure.

The outdoor pool area also offers a small gated 1ft baby pool for little ones to enjoy.

While the outdoor pools are included in all lodge and cabin stays, outside guests may purchase day passes to the pool at the front desk.

Tip: Pool towels are provided but are small. I recommend bringing your own.

Hit The Beach At Salt Fork Lake State Park

Make time to visit the beach during your stay, especially if you have kids. The beach area is well maintained and offers a shallower area for kids to splash in, not to mention a gorgeous backdrop. The beach area is near the Nature Center and the Dog Park.

Sasquatch Slammer

We got the Sasquatch Slammer, the Pork Chop, the steak, and a pizza during our visit. All of which went beyond our expectations.

Therefore, hit the trails with your binoculars, camera, and best bigfoot yell to see if you can find the elusive bigfoot. They even offer Bigfoot night hikes!

Tip: Many trails are one mile or less. Keep in mind any trails at the campground do not have parking near them.

Visit The Kennedy Stone House

Once home to the Kennedy family, this historic stone house is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Back in 1837, the ancestors of Benjamin Kennedy purchased an 80-acre tract of land in Guernsey County and built a large two-story house from native sandstone quarried nearby. Don Kennedy, great-grandson of the builder, occupied it until 1966.

The State of Ohio purchased the Kennedy property and surrounding lands to create Salt Fork, State Park. Today, the house is nestled in the woods, overlooking the lake.

Tip: The Stone House Loop is a 1.8 miles hiking trail around the house.

Explore The Lodge

The lodge has a plethora of amenities waiting to be explored. Play a game of hoops on the basketball courts, join in on a game of sand volleyball or try your luck at shuffleboard.
